A very talented friend of mine has expanded his craft of woodworking into a small business for himself. He crafts, carves, and assembles custom accessories together to create a beautiful instrument of writing. Pens - to be specific. Custom Pens - to be more specific.
When establishing his store on Etsy, Corey Calamis came to me and asked if I would develop a logo for him. He wanted something simple, yet eye-catching. His company name, Calamari Ink, helped steer creative into a specific direction. He wanted an ink-filled squid with a serious demeanor to look as if he'd just picked up a bit of driftwood on the ocean floor.
I found the task simple enough, until I'd realized that this was going to be logo. Which meant I'd have to vectorize this image in a way in which it could be mass produced for any size. If you've seen my style, you know that's a difficult request for me. I'm used to sketching and flowing free throughout the page before I find what I'm looking for.
It took me a few weeks from sketching to vectorizing before I found the final product. I love it. Corey loves it; and I'm hoping it's helped in bringing him new business.
If you're in the market for a custom pen (they make great gifts), don't hesitate to click the link HERE and check out his store. Congrats Corey and good luck.
And if anyone needs a new logo - drop me a line.
